Should I do anything about a monkey bite that didn’t break the skin?
Feb 7th
Question by Ozymandias: Should I do anything about a monkey bite that didn’t break the skin?
I was visiting Mount Emei near Chengdu, Sichuan Provence in China this morning near the enclosure for Tibetan Macaques. When I was trying to take a picture near the fence, one of the monkey’s began yanking on my back pack. I thought it was a person pulling on me and, without looking, reached behind to grip my bag. The next thing I knew a monkey was clutching my arm tightly and about 5 seconds later he bit me.
I was wearing a long sleeved fleece at the time and while some skin was scraped away, it doesn’t look like the teeth ever touched my skin. But there IS some raw skin (though no blood). My concern is if some of the saliva some how got through the cloth and maybe minute amounts seeped into my raw epidermis. Tibetan Macaques are known to have Herpes B which is (VERY rarely) transmitted to humans, resulting in fatalities. It says up to 90 percent of male macaques are infected with the virus, which is harmless to them but fatal to humans. There’s no known cure for it.
I’m living in a small Chinese town for the next 8 months and my vacation officially ended today. Should I skip work and go to Shanghai to have my bite checked out? I’m POSITIVE the teeth didn’t touch my skin directly, but some of my skin IS slightly broken (the bruise is pretty painful). What say you?

Jan 20th
No one is aware what exactly leads to acne. Lifestyle adjustments, like those in the course of teenage and being pregnant, likely play a role. There’s a lot of fallacies about what results in acne. Delicious chocolate and also oily food items are usually attributed, there is however minimal substantiation in which food have got a lot effect on acne in most most people. Yet another well-known misconception is that unclean skin triggers acne. But, blackheads as well as bad spots are usually not attributable to dirt. Skin Cancer Causes
Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, most commonly from sunlight, is overwhelmingly the most frequent cause of skin cancer.
Other important causes of skin cancer include the following:
* Use of tanning booths
* Immunosuppression—impairment of the immune system, which protects the body from foreign entities, such as germs or substances that cause an allergic reaction. This may occur as a consequence of some diseases or can be due to medications prescribed to combat autoimmune diseases or prevent organ transplant rejection.
* Exposure to unusually high levels of x-rays
* Contact with certain chemicals—arsenic (miners, sheep shearers, and farmers), hydrocarbons in tar, oils, and soot (may cause squamous cell carcinoma)
Regarding your mother’s comment, people who had at least one severe sunburn early in life have a greater risk of developing skin cancer. Mom is right!
Treatment for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma is straightforward. Usually, surgical removal of the lesion is adequate. Malignant melanoma, however, may require several treatment methods, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

There are various common myths with what will cause acne. Pastry as well as oily foodstuffs are often held responsible, however, there is hardly any proof in which food items have got a good deal impact on acne in most people. One other well-known myth is that filthy skin triggers acne. Yet, whiteheads along with bad spots commonly are not a result of dirt and grime. Anxiety won’t result in acne, although tension can worsen it.

The procedure is called Erbium fractional laser skin resurfacing. It is the same method as Fraxel, but the machine has a different name. The Procedure was performed at the ” Southwest Virginia Center. 2965 Colonnade Drive Suite 140. Roanoke, VA. This is the best treatment on the market to help soften acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, even out the skin tone and remove freckles or blotchy skin. The pain feels like rubber bands snapping the skin. It takes only 4 days to heal. This reason I had this skin treatment performed is, because I had some small acne scarring and a few fine lines around my eyes. This treatment also tightens the skin permanently.

Question by Kristen H: What causes “acne knots” under your skin? How do you get rid of them?
Best answer:
Answer by Ron L
Acne knots- caused by hormones.
To lower the hormones, eat a strict vegetarian diet with no dairy, no eggs, no added oils and no sugar. Eat fruit, vegetables, whole grains and nuts and legumes (beans). Eat lots of fruit and vegetables especially. This will lower the hormones eventually.
Teenagers in East Asia who eat traditional diets do not have acne. But, when they start eating a western diet with meat, dairy and sugar and refined foods, they get acne.
Zinc supplementation is also helpful. Take 50 mg./day with meals. Don’t take it on an empty stomach.
Moderate exercise also helps.
Best wishes to you.
