Diabetes

I just found out that my sweet Uno has diabetes. I was horrified, to say the least, and I’m still quite a bit emotional about it (he is my baby, after all).
However, I have been assured by the vet — as well as internet sites — that feline diabetes is NOT a "death sentence," and a diabetic cat can live a long and happy life with proper diet, etc.
He’s going in Monday morning for a full test to see how bad his diabetes is, and depending upon the numbers, we may even start an insulin regimen — which I’m also assured is easy and painless. Hopefully, though, we can control everything with his diet.
Please PLEASE say a prayer for my little guy, that we can find a way to manage this disease without him having to suffer. The vet assured me we weren’t at a critical stage now, so that’s good — but I’m still scared for him.

Gestational diabetes is something that occurs only during pregnancy, so if you get diagnosed with it, follow the advice of the doctors, they know best. There is every possibility that once your baby is born, the gestational diabetes will disappear.

Question by : What happens if i am diagnosed with type 1 diabetes?
Will I have to go to the hospital if I am diagnosed with type 1 diabetes? If so, what will i do there? Will they just teach me how to control my diabetes? Will they just monitor me? Will they do anything that hurts to me besides insulin injections, and checking my blood sugar?

Answer by Sugar :]!
you’ll have blood tests, injections, and blood sugar checks, a catheter put between your legs and i think thats it, nothing thats really gonna hurt haha.
they teach you control and monitor you until they think your sugars are stable enough for you to go home, then you’ll have to go back for check up a few months later at clinic, and get your eyes checked for diabetic retinopathy

How much fiber is needed if I have high cholesterol and high diabetes as well?
Jan 22nd
Question by zain7735: How much fiber is needed if I have high cholesterol and high diabetes as well?
The question pretty much sums the need up. I would like to know how many grams(g) of fiber should I take daily; I have high cholesterol and high diabetes. So, please if anyone has any suggestions or knows the answer, would you please conclude.

Fiber is just carbohydrates that pass through your system undigested. It simply isn’t used by your body so it’s not particularly needed for anything. However recipes can be modified to replace many of the carbohydrates with more fibrous carbohydrates to reduce your carbohydrate intake. This can be an advantage to diabetics as they can then eat high fiber brownies, breads and crackers without worrying about injecting more insulin. However, sometimes the recipes aren’t as nice as the real thing and it may be worth it to just inject a little insulin to have a decent treat.

I wish i could help lots, but if you type vets on this site, i am sure there is a vets section and real vets give you answerer’s to any minor
problems.
I can only think of boiled chicken with a little rice and a little garlic
and finally diced carrots and some fine greens sneaked in there.
Just mash those tiny vegetables when all cooked & mix it through the
chicken cook all of it together, with a dash of chicken stock, I know
my girl loved it.
