Dental care facilities have become very costly and so they are simply beyond the reach of the ordinary citizen. Investing in a good insurance plan is an effective way to get access to quality dental care facilities without having to shell a lot of money. However, if you do not have dental insurance coverage you may have to search for alternatives. There are several ways to save on dental health-care costs. Getting dental procedures done at a dentistry school is one of the best ways to save money and at the same time get quality healthcare.
Dental schools perform procedures for a fraction of the cost that dentists charge. Usually, the margin is more than 50%. Many dental colleges perform procedures free of cost. However, you may have to bear the cost of screening procedures and medicines. But you can still save a lot of money by getting the procedure done at a college. Colleges do procedures for free or reduced prices to demonstrate them to dental students. In certain cases, you may have to undergo the procedure for the hands of a training dentist.
Apart from saving money the other advantage of getting the procedure done at a dentistry school is that you will be in safe and experienced hands. Professors working at dental colleges have many years of experience in the field. In fact, many of them are pioneers in the field. For this reason, you can rest assured that you will be in safe hands. The quality you can expect at a dentistry college cannot be found even at the best dental clinics outside. Even when a dental student is performing the procedure, it will still be supervised by someone experienced in the field and so you don’t have anything to fear.
You can expect better services because many dental trainees are very enthusiastic about doing the procedures. Students take a lot of interest and so you will get better services even when compared to an established dentist. However, there is some element of risk associated with it. Students can make mistakes. However, the chances are very low because there will always be an experienced professor supervising dental procedure. If something goes wrong, he will immediately rectify it without any problem.
If you want to get dental procedures at the college, you will have to contact the college directly. Just call their office and inquire if any such opportunities exist. There may be certain paper work involved — you may have to sign certain forms and agreements. For this reason, it may take some time. You have to start early so that you can get the procedures done as soon as possible.
