With aging, the tissues around your eyes, including some of the muscles supporting your eyelids, weaken. Normal fat that helps support the eyes can then migrate forward into the lower eyelids, causing the lids to appear puffy. -Fluid from Allergies and Sinus issues also may accumulate in the space below your eyes, adding to a swollen appearance. Cosmetic surgery called Blepharoplasty CAN fix the fat pads that migrate, and lower eyelid lifts can tighten the skin in that region. Dark circles- Due to thin skin around the eye which causes the vascularture (vessels) to show through. NOTHING, not even cosmetic surgery can change this. However, some dark circles are due to the eye bags (puffiness) causing shadows, increasing the appearance of darkness. Look for ingredients like Caffeine. Caffeine reduces the appearance of circles and puffiness by reducing inflammation, constricting the blood vessels under the skin. Aside from caffeine, you can use preparation H, a hemorrhoidal cream that contains a vasoconstrictor called phenylephrine HCL to help swelling. Witch Hazel is a mild natural vasoconstricor as well.
