My dad passed away from colon cancer in december of 2007 only after 9 months. but i read that the survival rates were higher than that. he had surgery,chemo and radiation. i was wondering if certain cases can be more aggressive and harder to treat than others?

I would suggest that it is very much a case of early detection . I think you should have an occult blood test done regularly it is painless and can detect pre cancerous polps which can be removed without too invasive surgery . The test is done at home by taking smears of stool samples over a three day period and mailing to a laboratory. Because you have a family history it is worth monitoring and having an early diagnosis

Typically Cardinal signs are the leader, initiators . I understand this trait is especially evident with Capricorn, then aries, and than Libra.. But I don’t see the relation with Cancer. Can someone clarify and state the relation between Cancer and Cardinal traits (initiators/leaders).. Don’t Cancers side-step? How is that initiating?
I am aware that other placements are involved. But my question is not about that. Its about how cancer is considered a Cardinal sign? I don’t see it, and I would like to understand it.

They’re more open than the other 2 water sign imo lol. The other two are lurking in cave or swimming away, while crab just goes everywhere, burrow or rise. In physical sport like WWE/UFC and MMA I see a lot of Cancer. They’re not scare to do anything for the one they love.

One of the rarest diseases, but also the most deadly. It is a very rapid, fast moving disease and often goes unnoticed until it is too late. It is common amongst people above fifty. Very rare for younger people to get this disease. Severe weight loss is the biggest problem with this disease. People will go from hundred fifty to hundred ten in a very short amount of time. Once diagnosed, five year survival rate is low. typically patients survive one to two years if that.

Hi Yabran.
Well, that’s a difficult question because “cancer” is a general term meaning “runaway growth of cells”.
If it’s brain cancer, the symptoms can be “the person has headaches and acts strangely”. If it’s in a different part of the brain, the person’s symptoms may include blindness.
If it’s in the bowel, the person may have blood in his or her stool.
If it’s in the pancreas, the person may have smelly stools.
If it’s on the skin, the person will have oddly-shaped spots usually of motley colour.
Bone cancer, blood cancer, lymph cancer — all have very different symptoms.
Perhaps this doesn’t help much! But if you could provide more details of the symptoms or of the cancer, whichever you know for sure, then perhaps Yahoo Answers could be more targeted to your situation?

Hey there, i am throwing an avon party in a few weeks with the theme being breast cancer awareness, as this month is breast cancer awareness month.
I am having a raffle, but also need other fund raising ideas for the party to raise plenty of money. I am selling some products with a 20% proceed going to the charity.
Any advice and suggestions for fund raising would be fantastic.

I understand that regular pap testing can prevent cervical cancer when already diagnosed with HPV, but is there anything else you can do with diet or suppliments (for example) that can help prevent the cells from turning cancerous?

No there is nothing else you can do.
Don’t you think pap smears have worked pretty well considering the millions of women we have in this country and nearly all of them have HPV yet we have about 16,000 cases of cervical cancer each year?
