I work mainly 7pm-7am, and during the row of days that I work the shifts, I go home and into bed around 7:30am and wake up around 11:30am. Then I take care of a couple things, like walking my dog, eating brunch, bills, light cardio/weight training, e-mail, yaddiyaddiyadda, and then take a nap from about 3:30pm to 6:30pm. That gives me a total of around 7 hours. Hey it’s not good quality sleep, but circaedian studies say you can split your daily sleeping time if you need to. On days that I’m off, I’d rather sleep the entire day but I sometimes stay up the entire day after getting off at 8am to tire myself to sleep at a normal night hour. Anyone want to chime in with their 2 cents? I’m willing to try alternatives.

I’ve been told that it’s healthier to maintain a consistant schedule, whether that’s up all day and sleep all night or up all night and sleep during the day. Personally, I find that I’m tired most of the time when I’m awake regardless of how much sleep I get. I work during the week and end up sleeping from saturday morning to sunday morning, then getting on a night schedule until monday night when I have to stay up. However, people are less pleased with me screwing up my sleep schedule like this because I’m bipolar, but I haven’t noticed an effect on my mood.

Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan
The newly-consructed Canadian gymnasium at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. The gymnasium offers weight and cardio training equipment, and the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency staff help to organize athletic clubs and events for Task Force Afghanistan personnel.
About 2500 members of the Canadian Forces (CF) are currently serving as part of Joint Task Force Afghanistan. Most of the soldiers are stationed at Kandahar Airfield and at Camp Nathan Smith, Canada’s Provincial reconstruction Team (PRT) in Kandahar City. Other personnel are assigned to various military headquarters, a support base, and civilian organizations.
They play a key role in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force mission whose goal is to improve the security situation in Afghanistan and assist in rebuilding the country.

Jen contacted me in February 2011 while I was at the Carnevale in Venice. We discussed setting up a shoot when I got back to Alaska; I was struck by her creativity and enthusiasm. When Jen actually showed up for the first shoot I knew within about 0.023 seconds it was going to be a great shoot. Jen is not only drop dead gorgeous but her whole persona oozes sweetness, goodness, and classiness – you can’t but like her as soon as you meet her – a real rare find.
Normally when I shoot with a model I like to take a shot or two and then try something new; with Jen she set the flow and I went with it. She moved with such ease from one pose to the next and I could barely keep up with her.
Wow – this has to be one of my all-time favorite shoots and hopefully one of many with Jen. We did this shoot in South Anchorage, Alaska, in March 2011.
Strobist info – I had two flash units, a Canon 580EX II and a Vivitar 285HV positioned about 45 degrees in relation to Jen; the Canon was sent on 1/2 power, the Vivitar at 1/4th power. I used a Cybersync transmitter and receivers to trigger the flash units.

HIIT high intensity training look it up. Basically, you want to do this cardio workout whether jogging or on an elliptical for around 20 mins in the morning to jump start your metabolism. Ab wokrouts such as bicycles and planks are great as well along with this. Running at night for 20 min is good as well it will help burn unneeded calories. HIIT is also known as fartlex in the UK if you live there.

A “Cardiac Panel” can be anything that the lab that does it wants it to be. Most likely it is several blood tests that assess risk of heart attacks, or look for heart injury. Generally an electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG; same thing) is ordered separately.
In any case, why do you want any testing done? Without knowing your sex, risk factors or medical history, it’s hard to make any recommendations, but the only routine screening test (ie, tests not being done because of suspected heart problems) I order for someone your age is a blood test for the various cholesterol fractions, often called a “Lipid Panel.” If normal, it should be repeated every 5yrs or so.
I think it’s likely that a cardiac panel (or an EKG, for that matter) would be a waste of money for you.

I have started a weight-training program and want to know how to best balance it with my Cardio program. I was doing 90 min cardio 6 days a week. Now i do weight training 4 days a week and wonder how much cardio I should do.
With the weight training i am working on a more defined body, not much bulking up. With Cardio i am still working on some annoying belly/mid section fat, but am otherwise very lean.
How much cardio should i keep doing?
My Weight-training is mon, tues, thur, fri.

well you don’t want to workout/do cardio 6 days a week. even if you are eating perfect, your body still needs to rest and recover. i’d say maybe do weight training 2-3 days (lower body/back, chest/shoulders, arms/abs or something like that…or 2-3 total body workouts) and then do maybe 2-3 days of 90 min cardio.
i’d say try to keep your exercise days to 5.
